Anyone know what the big news was, haven't see anything in papers myself but was told by one of Humps employees the news was that his son Sam was officially joining the company.

We heard that a few times about his son, when we was in Tadcaster on Sunday.

I thought young Sam had joined the company previously, but keeps getting removed when he disagrees with his dad.
He disagreed about the TV's & also about the microwaved meals.

If Sam Junior is against microwaved food then there is at least some hope for the future.  As for TVs in a pub, I am general not against them in the Bar, but should generally be kept out of Lounges...Lounges are for discussion and chatting, in my opinion.

TVs put up the cost of running a pub, especially if Mad Murdock's Lie Sports is included.  This would attract some customers and disuade others, so it would have to be some serious consideration before it is installed.  Some people would choose a pub without a telly for peace and quiet...or just prefer the noise of conversation.

I don't think cheap beer and certain football fans mix too well.

A local in Tadcaster told me on Sunday, That if SS put's TV back in there pubs in Tadcaster than all the John Smiths pubs would close down.

For the record, we saw 3 boarded up pubs in Tadcaster.

Coach & Horses has just been bought & is being done up (bought by owner of local Ford dealership).
White Swan opens weekends only but looks as if it is shut down.
Can't think of a third pub that is 'boarded up'

I am sure we saw 3 closed pubs when walking around, Would I be right in saying 2 down the main road. One being he one that is only open weekends.

I thought we saw one to the north of the main road, somewhere near the church I believe.  But then we was on a pub crawl so I could be wrong.

I believe the Calcarcia pub is also shut or always looks shut when i have been past on the one way system

Calcaria isn't shut, it opens evenings & caters for kids (stays open till late)

I don't like to see any pub close, even the really bad ones.  The bad pubs (in my opinion) are were "chavs" and teenage Mums hang around (in my experience) and generally serve low quality Carling, Fosters, etc. Not my scene.

This means that they have somewhere to go other than the nice pubs!

Fame at last . Walked into a SS pub today, will not say which one. (been in 6 today) The person behind the bar said "your ian from the SS website." Stayed for 2 and had a nice talk to them.
