Hello All,

I've been enjoying the repeats of Auf Wiedersehen Pet on ITV4 and amoungst the hillarious antics of the rag tag bunch of builders I noticed they have been staying in a Sam Smiths pub.
Back in the old days when they served named spirits, had a jukebox and advertised the Sams logos outside proudly!
Oh such a long way we've come huh?!?
Ah well I just thought I'd mention it as it tickled me when I saw it.
Is it actually a Sams pub?
Anyway! just thought a bit of fun instead of the usual doom and gloom, and if it tickled me it might tickle you.
Cheers
Duckie

Hi,

The pub actually may have been a Sam Smiths pub, but it has changed a lot over recent years.

I have pictures from 1995 through to 2011, of the pub - http://auf-pet.com/barleymow.html

Thanks, Lee.

Yes the pub has changed over the years, and the SS sign has gone. Along with all the others, may be why we are struggling to find any new ones for the last few years.

Branded spirits were available in the 1990's and disappeared around 2001 i think.

Great show, we were just talking about the episode where they are in the haunted house. Those were more innocent times, the economy was good and we could smoke in the pub.

I know it was only a comedy, but in that industry that was the time to make your money and it showed that quite well.

Hi

Today I'm working from home while waiting for delivery on new freezer

I had TV on at 4.30 watching (I know, sad ! ) Lovejoy

Tinker clearly went into the Earl of Lonsdale in NottingHill

He ordered a large gin

The SSOB white rose was clearly visible

Anybody know anything about this pub

Southener

But it looked like Stella Beermats

When was this series set ---- 1990's ?

The outside of the pub was a Sams pub but the interior was a studio set.

I do agree that the outsides were also used in Minder and perhaps Sweeny going back years. Can't remember which pub it was, but it had the SS signage on
