I know this site is still relatively new - but I did expect more of an uptake by now. Especially as I've made sure that it's the first Google search result when looking for 'samsmiths'.
Anyway - I understand that people may be a bit wary, especially with the risk of being identified -
but you are totally safe, being a member and using this site. Your identity and email address can not be seen or accessed by anyone. All you need to be careful with is that you keep your identity secret (if you require) in any content of the postings you make.
About me!I too, am keeping my true identity secret - because I don't want to be banned from any Sam Smiths establishment. Therefore I have gone to a lot of effort to make sure that the security of this site and its data is kept very safe - and without giving too much away - technically I know what I'm doing. More on security in a moment.
I have been a very regular Sam Smiths customer for very many years - and have seen many changes along the way. But I think things have gone too far. And having invested many years, and a great deal of money in the brewery (as a loyal customer), I think that my opinion, and that of other customers, should count for something.
Any other business would love to get customer feedback, so that they could monitor their businesses success or failures - and adjust things accordingly - for customer and commercial benefit. But no! Not Sam Smiths! They seem to have the pathetic, rude, attitude of; '..well if you don't like it - tough. Go somewhere else!'.
Even the media can't really gauge or influence things - as Sam's do a pretty good job of keeping their heads down - and no staff/manages could risk talking to them - risking their own jobs. So again, here's an opportunity to get the message out
anonymously! This website has cost me some money, and valuable time - so please us it and spread the word. It's not everyday a good Samaritan like me will come along and provide something like this for free - so don't let it go to waste!
Security - this site is safe to use! Your identity is secure.Look I know you've only got my word for it - and I'm trying to hide a lot of my identity too - otherwise I reckon Sam's would have me banned from all of their venues - let alone my local. But if you are really worried, then you could always use a remote free email service to register with (like
http://www.mail.com/). You do need an email address though - that way you can be alerted (if you require) when anyone responds to your message or chosen thread. We can also send all members a message - if for instance we find something interesting about the brewery or its plans, which we feel you would benefit from knowing.
For added security - this website is hosted on Servers in the US. The domain name (samsmiths.info) is registered by proxy (in the US) more here..
http://whois.domaintools.com/samsmiths.infoYet I was born, and have always lived in England - less than 1 mile away from a Sam's venue!
The website sits on a very stable and secure Unix Server - and all the content data - is sat on a separate database Server. I had to make certain that it would be safe to post on this site - even for my own sake - let alone so that I wouldn't have wasted my time in creating it.
