Address: 465 Oundle Road, Orton Longueville, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE2 7DD [01733 234170]
Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

I went to the Botolph Arms on the 12th November, 2011.  The pub was set in a beautiful plot of land, set back from the busy main road.  This is my photo of the pub sign - typical Samuel Smith's.

The pub, named after the nearby St. Botolph's church, was the former rectory (so I was told by a local) of a substantial age and reflected this inside.

The pub itself had no signage on it at all.

My interior photographs are not that good a quality, due to the light and possibly a setting on my phone not being correct.

The interior was basic with a stone-paved floor, reflecting its former use as a rectory.  This was the room we sat in, and had lots of dark wood panelling and furniture.

A large fire place was also in this room, tastefully filled with empty crisp packets and other rubbish!

This is the bar.  The pub has great potential to be a roaring success, both because of its location next to a public play area and the large beer garden to the front and car park to the rear.  The access road was like "driving" down towards a stately home!

The poor quality of the beer (Taddy lager) was only matched by that of the poor attitude of the barmaid towards DarkieGirl and myself when we returned our beer (which was not replaced, although DG's glass was changed).

I think that this may be the first overt criticism that I have levied on this forum against a Samuel Smith's pub/beer/member of staff.  I regret finding myself having to mention it and I hope that the next visitor to this pub has a far better experience that we experienced.

Been in today,  what a nice looking pub this is. It as a relief in that dose not look old enough to drink. :(  OK so I'm jealous of his youth.

That must be the longest drive to a SS pub. May be Humphrey like his trees and vista.  :P

It's a beautiful pub in a brilliant setting.  It's just ashame that on my visit the beer was dreadful and only matched by the lack of customer service when the drinks were taken back.

Some of the beer I have had lately at SS pubs has not always been the best. The customer service element should at least be good. But I know that the staff training is very minimal at the moment.
