It is nice to buy 'a bag of crisps' that is not merely 'a bag with some crisps in it'. That is to say, 50g as opposed to 30g, and the rest puffed up with 'protective atmosphere'! Mr. Smith, you have got this one exactly right. And profit to the brewery, too. Good call! Now, can we have the vanishing cask OBB restored to all your pubs-I note the difficulties if it sells low volume, (but why not ask if re-appraisal is worthwhile in some locations, ask your staff), including some very busy ones in Leeds that I used to enjoy visiting, and have the staff told that requesting just 'a pint of bitter' does not merely mean I want the Sovereign, where a choice exists, but OBB? It was not always thus. While I'm in an asking frame of mind, how about casking some more beers? Maybe mild (yes I know it's in decline, but still.....), your stout (that could win prizes if done right, think about it), and possibly limited production beers for where the market exists-there are lots of such places, and extend free trade if you can; actively get out there and flog it to them. This would raise the profile of SSOB in the real ale community, all to the good. Re-instate Strong Golden, (I used to make my own Museum Ale by adding a few fl.oz. to the top of a pint of OBB!!). And, can we see the branding proudly restored to pubs' exteriors, as it was last seen? Distinctive, dignified and a boon to all who have had too many let-downs going in to undranded pubs-they nearly always have terrible 'beers'. No wonder they want to keep it hidden as to whats on offer. Having fallen in to that trap, lets hope the brewery gets out alive. Or does anyone have a convincing reason why the de-branding happened-I'd love to know. Cheers everyone!
