After hearing of a number of incidences regarding staff selection, and employment termination - I would like to make a general enquiry, simply out of curiosity.
It was alleged to me some time ago, that one of the Sam's pubs employed the services of a cook - who I'm told was very capable and popular. However, after a visit from Humphrey Smith, it was alleged that she was instantly dismissed - and it was believed that the decision was racially motivated - she was possibly of African decent. Does anyone know anything about this incident, or similar?
I read at these forums that one new manager was dismissed following a first meeting with Humphrey, and it was alleged that the large size of the new manager was possibly the reason why. When I made further enquiries with the person in question to clarify the allegation - he told me that Humphrey was 'as nice as pie' with them previous to meeting, and Humphrey was more than satisfied with their performance. Apparently, at the moment they met Humphrey, Humphrey's attitude towards them notably changed abruptly!
So back to my original question - does the brewery have a non-racist, sexist policy of employment, that does not discriminate in any way, as required by law? Does the brewery employ individuals (especially in management) of different ethnicities?
