The Investors in People journey

The Investors in People (IIP) Standard is a national quality standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people. It provides a framework for improving organisational performance and competitiveness through a planned approach to setting and communicating business objectives and developing people to meet these objectives.

The Standard is based on three key principles:

Developing strategies to improve the performance of the organisation – an Investor in People develops effective strategies to improve the performance of the organisation through its people.
Taking action to improve the performance of the organisation – an Investor in People takes effective action to improve the performance of the organisation through its people.
Evaluation of the impact on the performance of the organisation – an Investor in People can demonstrate the impact of its investment in people on the performance of the organisation.

Stages of the Investors in People journey

The Investors in People journey follows a cycle of Advice, Assessment, Recognition and Review.

I'm sure the long term objective of the Smith family is to keep the small privately owned brewery in Tadcaster solvent and commercially viable, this in turn provides the most important motive for the brewery, a solid platform for stable employment for the long term.

Hi there Santillas!

I think it's always difficult to know how to respond to a post like this - other than a degree of irritation. Have you had the opportunity of reading some of the extensive background on here? - you might be right in what you say - but the general feeling is that virtually every recent decision by the present owners will only serve to frustrate any aim of "a solid platform for stable employment for the long term". And I for one don't agree that an empire of in excess of 270 freehold pubs and three breweries is a "small" brewery. I know Humphrey Smith likes to encourage this view, but as each week passes we learn a bit more about just how large a private empire he and his family really own.
