From what I can ascertain - a new brewery directive has now restricted any food that can be served, in any Sams establishment - to a list of 'approved meals' specified by Humphrey Smith. This seems another sure way to alienate the customers, staff and management - (no change there then).  :o
Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

The disgusting pie menu is a way for Humphrey to maximise profits and further control the operating costs of each pub. The profit margin is something like 30% on the Sarah Brownridge pies and associated products. Most pubs hate the menu, and so do the customers.

So as I'm lead to believe, Sarah Brownridge is wholey owned by the Sam Smiths family. Surprisingly, they have a website - although rather basic - but other than the Tadcaster address, there's no clues to the association with the family. Although this is their typical 'Cloake and dagger', M.O. (modus operandi).

Their website: http://www.sarahbrownridge.co.uk

I trust their food isn't as bland as their website!?

We regularly use a lot of Sams pubs and cannot understand why some of them are allowed a varied menu whilst others have to stick with the 'Pie menu'
Our two local pubs have marvellous landlords and landladies but the stupid new menus that they are restricted to are driving them to distraction.  Does Humph not realise that HE is killing his pubs more than the smoking ban or supermarket cheap booze.
Its no good the reps moaning at the landord/lady  to sell more beer/food.  If the menu was inviting then it would happen but who wants to go out for a pie when there are so many pubs and restaurants selling much nicer food.  Which I might add his pubs used to do before this crazy menu was introduced.
Wake up Humphrey, you are cutting your own throat. Or does F.O. pull the strings at the Brewery.
