This is the pub's own website (don't tell THE HUMP): http://www.nellies.co.uk

Nellies video:

Anna, the former landlady, used to run the Cornhill Vaults in Lincoln (deceased SS pub).  She now runs The Strugglers near the Castle, also in Lincoln.  She's a fab landlady.

As you may know the "Nellies" website has been taken down, which is hopefully just a temporary arrangement.

However, you can see most of the website as it was on Google cached pages:

I can only imagine the state Hump will have been in when he found out that one of his pubs had its own website! I'm surprised he didn't start legals against everyone concerned. Can't see it being reinstated as the domain is owned by the paranormal investigator bloke. Is he the previous manager?

I'd love to have been a fly in the wall when he found out!

i had a word with him, Mark last night, and asked him. he said he had lots of history info that he may put on sometime about the pub building, but nothing about the business. he seemed real pissed off and didnt want to talk about it at first. i gathered he'd done a lot for the place and managers over the years and had done relief management there i think. he also does the charity (air ambulance) quiz, but the word is that the new landlord isnt too keen on it. and i've heard less people are going and now go to the corner house quiz on wednesdays

i might add that he's a real nice and interesting chap to talk to. i know him from when i played pool for nellies, Mark is still captain. he used to also be always helping out, collecting glasses and things. but every time i've passed him recently he s just been sat on his own in a small dark corridor bit. sad really  :-[

Why should any SS manager do anything for the brewery, they get nothing in return, they aren't allowed to do anything without permission.

Anna, who is mentioned in the link below, used to be the manager of "Cornhill Vaults", a former Samuel Smith's pub in Lincoln, which had a great reputation.  She went on to manage Nellie's in Beverley, after the Lincoln pubs closed.  This is what she has achieved outside of Samuel Smith's:

Not bad!

Re: Nellies, Beverley - LATEST NEWS, JUST IN...
A colleague of mine has just phoned me from outside Nellie's where he visited over his lunch break. Apparently the current management couple are stocking out today (pub closed), and a relief has been urgently called in!!!

The manager 'John Heaton' is telling people that he's had enough and moving on. However, according to my colleague, rumors are abound that it may have something to do with Mr Heaton allegedly being in the tills and safe when he had stocked out for a holiday. It's also being circulated that items and money had allegedly being extorted from staff (under the threat of violence) and that this had been reported to the local licensing officer yesterday - who has probably been in touch with the brewery this morning.

My colleague  (also from York) is in the legal profession, as am I, and is currently working on a case in Beverley.

It looks as if Mr H Smiths policy of employing anybody, providing little training, and even less supervision - is really paying off!!!  ???

ive just passed nellies on the way home from work and it seemed to be closed. we are supposed to be going to the quiz tonight. so will see whats happening if its open

i had heard pretty much the same rumours from a very reliable source, so we will see if they are true. all seemed normal (as can be) last night

problem seems to be that humph is cutting too many corners, and also forcing people into them

its official - management locked out, all locks in pub changed, and reliefs taken over from blackpool

i was also told that they had until sunday to make arrangements to remove their belongings under supervision

also the now ex manager john was saying that he will get someone to sort out the customers who have grassed him (with violence) on this sunday. the police have been notified

humph - where do you find these wonderful ambassadors who are helping you destroy the business you inherited? what a waste!

A mate of mine went in last night.  He said it was busy and had two ladies behind the bar.

I went passed it at 3-15pm today and it was open.
