Did the brewery attack this Website?
« on: Sep 3 - 2008 »
A rumor is currently circulating between some individuals, within Samuel Smiths Brewery - that this site has been targeted for a hack-attack, to remove some of it's content!

The alleged incident, was supposedly carried out on the orders of HS, who wanted some of this sites content removing. The person responsible for the hacking attempt, claimed a degree of success, before all the content was restored.

Well whilst I can't verify the validity of the rumor - what I can confirm, is the following..

1) No one has succeeded in deleting any content, which is located of a separate database server, at a secure US military-grade location. Anyone caught attempting to hack the system (which is almost impossible), will be tracked down through an elaborate security measure, implemented soon after 9/11. Furthermore, the perpetrator, and instigators, risk extradition to the US, for serious law infringement. In such circumstances - all of the media will be alerted and briefed in great detail.

2) If anyone managed to crash our systems (quite unlikely), apart from our US base, we have mirror back-ups in Germany, and the UK. Even if the Florida data center was hit by a meteor, the site would be instantly working from one of the remaining two backups.

3) None of the members private data, is retrievable by anyone but me - and I will honor the responsibilities as outlined under US, European, and UK data protection/privacy laws.

Finally, If the rumor is true, then it's possible that the criminal(s) involved is/are reading this. In which case, I would like to convey this message to you..

If anyone within the Sam Smiths brewery, are unhappy about any of the comments posted within this forum (as legally entitled), then the answer is quite simple; - join the site, and join in the debate. If you have something to say - then say it here.

If anyone at Sams' believes that the only solution is to rule and bully, with no consideration for all of the individuals who are suffering, both customers, and employees alike - and are not prepared to put their viewpoint across here (but would rather destroy the site) - then that/those person/persons - is/are..

Spineless, pathetic, inhumane, coward(s) - who is/are probably aware, deep down, that their behavior is morally wrong - and totally unacceptable - by anyone!!

Come 'Judgement Day'!

Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.
