No response yet - which would suggest they are a bit thin on the ground these days, or they are (with their experience of the Smiths) very wary of saying anything here - for fear of any retribution - which I can fully appreciate.

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, you can communicate here anonymously. All data is held on a separate US milspec Database Server - in a secure data centre. There's only one person has access to that data (i.e. email addresses) and that's me. I'm too, keeping anonymous - otherwise I'd probably be banned from all Sam Smiths pubs for life!

If anyone would like to post here, and is still reluctant, then you could always register using a free, independent, email address. A selection, can be found here

I use a contact email address, to verify that it is a real person joining our community (no a scammer or spammer), and you have the option of being automatically notified, of a posting response to a message you have selected.

Now back to the question asked by our fellow member ('ABUSED' - above), how many of you reading this, have worked for the brewery in excess of three years? And I would like to add, how many changes (good or bad) have you noticed of the brewery regime?
Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

My partner and I worked for Sam Smiths for 14 years before we were sacked.  In that time we have seen a lot of changes all for the worse none for the better!  In the good old days we were allowed to sell branded minerals, branded spirits, alchopops and pork scratchings.  We had music and t.v.s which meant we could host parties, weddings, football events e.g. world cup when most pubs would be packed.  Area managers allowed us a couple of gallon of beer a week to give away for prizes for quiz nights and raffles.  We were also allowed a small allowance to provide sandwiches and snacks for customers on said nights.  Every year in July the company would hold a free family day for managers and their families.  This entailed managers going to one of the larger pubs in the south Yorkshire area where the company would provide a B.B.Q., childrens rides, tarot card reading, cricket match between managers and area managers and much more, finishing in the evening with live entertainment.  Managers would travel some distance to attend this fun day and our kids loved it.  At Christmas managers could attend a Christmas meal which was subsidised by the company.  Although it was very upsetting the day Mr Smith turned up at our pub at 8.00am to sack us and it has been tough to watch our pub being ruined by absolute bafoons who call themselves managers, this is not the company we joined and I for one am not sorry that my partner and I stood up to Mr Smith and said enough is enough along with many other well trained and experienced managers.  We had to go into a training pub for 9 weeks when we first started, and then to the training centre in Tadcaster for 2 weeks where we were trained in everything from health and hygiene to licencesing laws.  After that we went on the relief circuit for a time where we were graded on every relief we did by the area managers and when we eventually got our first pub we had to be interviewed twice.
As you can see it hasnt always been a joke, and although it was hard work we were happy and happy staff make for happy customers!
