I'm not a lawyer, but I think the issue with Croptons is not about copyright or registered trademarks, but rather 'passing off' - an all-together much more complicated issue that the expensive lawyers will just love to get stuck into. See wikipedia

Hump has indeed registered his own White Rose design as a trademark. HAving a few minutes spare I thought I'd have a quick look around the IPO website and here's the page... http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/tm/t-os/t-find/t-find-number?detailsrequested=C&trademark=1006571

The rest of the brewery's registred trademarks are listed on this and the following two pages... http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/tm/t-os/t-find/t-find-adp?propnum=0587180001

Logos and trademarks are very important for companies. They are sensible to protect them.

This is not about the army or david and goliath or all the other things that people are saying. It's an important issue about trade mark protection.

Couldn't agree more. Hump has only trademarked that particular design. Anyone else is free to use a diferent design but Hump's appetite for litigation means anyone using a similar white rose can guarantee a fight.
