jackrussel, it was antthe2nd who claimed to be 407!  A somewhat strange claim!

Also, the sparkler removes the CO2 which takes away the little bit of fizziness.  I got this information from the owner of a not-so inconsiderably sized brewery...over 60 pubs and most of you will have heard of it.

Just a second Antthe2nd ............The gas in real ale is naturally occurring carbon-dioxide (CO2), which is a bi-product from the fermentation process, specifically the action of the live yeast on the sugar during the fermentation. Yeast is a type of fungus found in many forms. The other bi-product from the reaction between the yeast and the sugar is of course alcohol.

Even Tina knows this.....

JettaP, you are Simply The Best at explaining where the CO2 comes from!

wash sparklers in soda then do the rest and dispense said beer, sovereign, stout, obb,WITH MIXED gas, c02 is not part of it, no matter what anyone says

antthe2nd, as mentioned previously, the CO2 is naturally occurring in the beer.  It is not added like lager.

At the risk of being an "Undercover Agent for the Booze" (sorry Tina) Antthe2nd

With beers "What you get is what you see" and "Something Beautiful Remains"
"Absolutely Nothings Changed"

With Lagers only "In your wildest dreams" could you call it a natural product.

Generally, in my opinion, German and British lagers are quite different, and generally German lagers are good and British lagers are bad, apart from the odd exception (the Samuel Smith's lagers are exceptions in the UK).

I've heard of a lager produced by a small brewery in London which is gaining a good reputation,  plus also Cain's lager is meant to be okay.

The likes of Carling (Canadian), Fosters (Aussie), Skol, etc. are poor examples  of low quality "British" lagers.
