I may be wrong but all these sound like specials rather than across the board low prices. I know Weatherspoons have offers, I've had a few but it brings it home to you when you see prices of ?2.80 and above.

These are the normal prices, and ?1.72 or thereabouts is a standard price in the pubs in the area I am referring to.

Surely that's an oxymoron?

Possibly, not seen Worthington's on cask for a long time...it does seem to be making a come-back on keg.

I've only drank Budweiser once. That was in St George, Utah.  Me and the wife was doing a road trip of the western states. We stopped for the night in a motel and went looking for a laundry to wash some clothes.

Has most on here will know Utah is nearly a dry state. Yes I know a big mistake on my part but we only spend one night in Utah.   We got talking to some people and they told me that there was a little bar tucked out of the way about 100yards away. So me and the wife went to find it while the clothes where washing.

When we went in, it was happy hour $1 a bottle. After 2 hours and 10 bottles for me and 3 for the wife it was time to go back to the laundry. :(

I'm back in Scotland on Friday for a long weekend this time on the west side. It's a free bar both nights but it's John Smiths (sorry for swearing).  It will be interesting to see how much a pint of beer is up there.

Ian, if I were in a John Smiths pub it would be a cheap night, I dont get on with it.
