This is a general query as i have noticed recently that several Sams pubs have changed their optics to the larger 35m ones. Could see a bar tariff to check whether the prices are dearer for them, i am supposing it will be.

Is this a ploy to make more money out of customers. :P

Maybe a manager can confirm, but I'm pretty sure the 35mm ones are standard in Sam Smith's pubs.

Thanks ant, I'll go and have my eyes checked out. I would have put money on the 35ml optics :(

you are prob right ian as some areas get difff memos to others and diff priceing structures ,north, south,n east west etc ,but im sure a spirit measure should be 25ml

or of course a manager could of ordered 35ml optics by mistake and be using them unaware that his/her next stock take wont be too clever, lets face it some managers havnt managed a pub before :)

This is very true. Went in one pub last night and it had the standard 25m optics still. Yes i would assume the manager would get a bad stock using larger measures.

The manager's stock would be about 40% down, which is not insignificant.

Both sizes are legal as long as notices to that effect are on display, look and ye shall find. ;)

I'm guessing though that if Humphrey Smith stipulates 25ml and if a manager uses 35ml then he/she will be in trouble.  Not many pubs of all descriptions use 35ml any more.

If you are instructed to use 25ml, there is no point in using 35ml cos the till would charge for 25ml and the numpty would LOSE. Please tell me were i can get 10ml free and i will be round.
Any Jock will tell you that 25ml is for pooofters. 35ml is a wee dram. :-*

I too wish that I knew of a Samuel Smith's pub using 35ml too!  I only know of one pub in my area selling 35ml spirits.

Could the manager have made a typo?  What did it say on the optics?

The optics have 35ml on them. Both Hull pubs are the same. Went into one in Scunthorpe today and that was 25ml.
