Old Samuel Smiths pub in Bridlington

I heard a rumour that there used to be a Sams pub in Bridlington, that the fishermen used everyday. Anyone know why this was sold as a pub or a shop.As i believe now it's a Burton's.

brid is mostly owned by a certain lord foeffes(a bit like humf with taddy) and he leased out the owston bar to the smiths . the smiths wanted to buy the property but foeffes wouldnot sell
