Holidays
« on: May 14 - 2011 »
If this is correct it could result in more people losing their jobs. It would seem and i say again if true that managers who have booked and paid for their holidays and are within a few days of leaving, are being told they cannot go as there are no reliefs to take over, what are people to do keep your job and lose your money and your holiday, or lock the pub and go and on your return lose your job no doubt.

This nearly happened in my local but was sorted just before the managing couple were due to go but there was no doubt in their minds that Hump was threatening them with their job if they went without a relief.  Thing is, it's in most employers terms and conditions of employment that if there's no cover then you have to cancel your holidays, BUT compensation will be paid for flights, hotels etc. already booked. Needless to say Sam Smiths will not make compensation, and most companies are well enough organised so the situation should only occur very rarely, but again, Sams lack of relief managers makes things very difficult.

I knew a couple that have booked a holiday a month ahead as required by the brewery and the day before they were due to leave, found a relief manager to run it. They were just going to go and leave the pub shut, if no relief was found.
