Your brews are good - but by no means the best. You are no longer competitive in other areas. If I'm at a venue, where your brew is guesting, I will pay more for a better pint, such as a Boddingtons. Not all people have the same tastes, like/dislikes - which is why you must offer more variety, and stop kidding yourself that your business will survive simply on your low-cost products

BODDINGTONS??????? YOU'RE HAVING A LAUGH!!! Think about what happened to that brewer and its workers, sold down the river by Whitbread, to lying greedy foreigners, then flattened. Just a brand name now. Belgian owned, Welsh brewed nitro keg rubbish, sorry to all the taffys, it's not your fault.Remember when you could taste the honey in the brew? now who is going to brew the cask? if you can find it,the Danes or the Dutch?. Not many pubs these days declare outside, what they sell inside!.Anyway 6-0!!! ;) :-X

A rather cutting - if not somewhat heated post!  I don't think it's fair, to judge a person by his pallet.

Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

i totally agree with you admin... i personally dont like beer or lager i am a spirit drinker... and the cost has gone up dramatically in Brandy... it is 78p dearer in our establishment than it is in the next village. but i like sams vodka to any other...

everyone has an individual taste which goes from hair colour to food.. i think it is unfair to diss someones opinion, after all we all have them

my husband does love a pint of john smiths smooth.

Not many judges on this site then? ;D

Question; what's the quickest way to put a Yorkshiremans back up?

Answer;   tell him he's wrong.

FOB? He must have choked when HWS told him he was ONLY having company catering, FOB was the king of franchise, with his ?10 cookers. He hated company catering for the bean counter he his. You want to handle him, ask for everything in writing and keep a diary, he gets off on you fighting him, give him herbel brew, with fibrogel instead of sugar.

It is not necessarily the case that there are no shares in Sams. It is a private unlimited company, which may or may not have share capital. Such companies are allowed to disclose far less information to the public which is no doubt the reason Sams is set up that way.  However there is no limit on the 'members' liability & Humphrey is presumably a 'member' so if everything goes totally pear shaped he could lose everything he has!
As for the business being held in Trust, that does not mean it cannot be sold, and the Trustees have a legal duty of care to the beneficiaries. In any case there is normally a time limit on the lifespan of a Trust so the situation does not last forever. If only we could see a copy of the Trust Deed it might explain HS's actions!

Actually - SAMUEL SMITH OLD BREWERY (TADCASTER) - is a 'Private Unlimited Company' - this type of company may or may not have a share capital and there is no limit to the members' liability. Because there is no limitation on members? liability, far less of the company?s affairs have to be disclosed publicly than is the case with the other types of company.
