Yes it would have been around the early 1980ies, I remember the Soviet boats looked massive in the small harbour. Once they started unloading the timber the Magnet Joinery wagons were queuing along the road, it was like a shuttle service of wagons taking the timber away. Don't know how many wagons it would have taken to unload the entire boat but a hell of a lot.

Don't know if any of the sailors ever called in the Golden Ball but I did one occasion get chatting with a couple of them on the harbour side. Maybe they had their own supply of booze (probably stronger than Sam's) on board lol
