I did look in this morning but did not have time to post.

Antthe2nd I went out today with a smile on my face after reading your posts and I had visions of coming in tonight to Antthe3rd. ;D . We must have that drink together soon, mate.

Ant makes a very good point about "one post wonders" and this forum dose seem to get more then it's fair share.

It looks like the only time most people find this site is when they what to complain about a pub and/or bar staff and managers. Nothing wrong in having a complain about things (I do it all the time, It's a age thing I think) but some of the one post wonders do tend to be personal about it. Knowing that they can call hell out of any manager on here in the knowledge that the manager cannot come on here to defend them self's.

I know of at least 10 managers who use or look in on this forum and all of them have trusted me enough to introduce themself's when I've visited there pubs. When talking to them I never let on who the other manager posters are and I will never betray there trust in me. At least 2 of them have had allegations made against them on here in the past and both where thankful of those of us on here who defended them.  In the last few weeks I've had people coming up to me in pubs and thanking me and wanting to buy me drinks.

Re Pintplease post about me getting upset about a post. Well Pintplease if you read it you would have seen my reasons for that.

When the regular posters on here pork there heads up above  the parapet to defend the managers who cannot defend themself's then yes we do get both barrels sometimes.  That I don't mind as most of the times the one's who are doing the complaining are customers who have been banned for one reason or another. Some of the time I do know more then I let on about posts and/or posters but I keep quite.

As long as I continue to get thanks by PM's or in person I will continue to speak up, after all Sam's can't sack me, I don't work for them.

Proof that you can get your beer in lined glasses. But sadly not a Sam Smith's pub.

The lager served in the tall thin glasses in Sam Smiths pubs are served in oversize glasses I noticed.  I might have to try that next.

And if I remember correctly, also the Wheat Beer...which I won't be drinking, not after the last experience!

I have tried the Wheat beer and it is a lovely pint on occasions. Obviously they are both served in over sized glasses. No problem. I ahve been in other pubs and they also have lined glasses for bitter and lager, which cna be a good thing.

I've always made the point that people either accept a pint in  brim measure glass for what it is (within reason) or that they'll have to pay extra for that pint in a lined glass, because pubs will inevitably end up giving customers more beer for the same money. There's also the extra cost of replacing millions of glasses.

Funnily enough, the Sam Smiths beers dispensed in lined glasses cost considerably more than their 'ordinary' counterparts, and far more than the cost of ingredients and small amount of extra duty would add.

The days of metered pumps dispensing into oversized but not lined or certified (cheaper) glassware solved all problems.

I'm assuming he uses the 5% surplus he insists on to cover the waste which in most pubs is about 3-5%, so if he had to start handing out 100% full pints he'd want to get the money back from somewhere. I'm not saying the situation is right, just a fact of life for every pub operator.  The only places I can think of where draught is served in lined glasses as a matter of course are upmarket and very expensive, or clubs where they're more relaxed about profit margins.
