Samuel Smiths Policy

Question.  Is it correct and allowed for landlords working for Humphrey Smith to bar customers purely because they don't like them even if they have done nothing wrong?

Speaking as a customer, why would any manager want to ban any of their customers if they have not done anything wrong?  The mind boggles if this as happened.

only time to bar, should be when they,ve done something wrong id of thought? Then again if the manager has a hunch of pending trouble his/her best option is not serve and take the normal flak, i remember barring a big bully for what he,d done to another manager ,diff brewery, diff town,if he,d do it him im sure as hell to let him do it to us(not) so its mixed bag really

Ant, in case of the "big bully" you did have a good case to bar him and good on you for doing it.  As for the managers "hunch" again if the manager thinks that there is trouble brewing, then again you've got good reason to ban them.

People who say that I should get out more are maybe right. Only time I was asked to leave a pub was somewhere in Lancashire. Having spending all day on a very boggy moor and we was up to our eyeballs in mud we went into a posh pub for a drink.  Only had one then you was asked to leave.

YES :-*  Then the offended party spits the dummy out and says 'I'm going to write to the brewery' etc, etc, etc.
Then the never ending story also begins on this media. 8)

If you want a warm welcome and an enjoyable day the I would recommend that you avoid the Cittie Of York then as aparently the only people allowed in there are people thatr the landlord 'likes' and judging by his past form that list is a very very very short one.  Shame though because it used to be a nice pub!!

Which "landlord" are you referring to, and when?

I've been in the Cittie of York four times in the last year and every time it was packed out. Last time I was in there was hardly any room to stand. Only stayed for one then moved on.

Like DarkieBoy says, please expand on your statement about your treatment with the manager of the said public house.

You'll have to ask him that!  Let's just say that if it was a simple case of a clash of personalities then he has one of those with the entire area of E1 and is now (it would seem) continuing the trend to the city!!!

You'll have to ask him that!

How can we do that? And he cannot come on here to defend himself and if your not going to expand on your complaint against  him, why post it in the first place?
