....and all started by HS :)

Fullers, Thwaites, JW Lees, Greene King and Carlsberg all announced that they'd be brewing 2.8% beers and lagers long before SS. Oh, hang on, Sam Smith's haven't actually announced anything except in internal memos!  Presumably customers will have to study the pumps closely to discover the reason for their even-better-value pint.

Interesting, do you have any links to these other independents(not Carlsberg) so that we can, read any comments directed towards them.

Carlsberg, will that be British/Northampton or will we see the lorries in that old advert being loaded on ferries to England as it is not wanted in Denmark?  Can you imagine the adverts for the next England Football game?

Carlsberg 2.8 probably the Best P.... in the world that could fit.  ;D

There's a link to the Greene King Tolly English Ale here... http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Brands-News/Greene-King-launches-2.8-abv-beer, The Lees beer and lager here... http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/General-News/JW-Lees-launches-lower-strength-beers, Fullers are apparently calling theirs 'Mighty Atom', Thwaites haven't gone public yet and the Carlsberg offering will just be Skol, even worse than the normal Carlsberg Pissner!

We might well get a statement at some point about otehr brewery's offerings of a lower ABV drink. But i doubt it if Sam's will every do such a thing.

It would make sense to get some posters printed even if it was just for the pubs, but I don't suppose it'll happen.

It will be interesting to see if any posters for the Alpine or the new range of Dark Mild, Light Mild and Yorkshire are advertised in the pubs. Roll on November

We've sent 43 Protest Post-Cards so far from The Anderson to The Chairman about saving 4.5% Alpine Lager. Anyone else out there doing anything?

I am not personally doing anything, but maybe other members are. Not sure how effective it will be to write or send a postcard to the Chairman, as he will probably just ignore it. This has happened over many issues over the years and usually just don't get a response.

Very luck people get a hand written letter back.  :-*

The more protest cards he gets the more likely he'll reduce its ABV still further. Sometimes he actively tries to not give his customers what they want.

This is a great example of why this company and our website are so fascinating. It might be true - but there again it might not! It all adds to the myths and mysteries that are 'Samuel Smith Old Brewery Tadcaster.'

If I remember right,  the first batch was brewed yesterday and it awaits testing.  I think pubs can order it towards the end of next week.
