I saw that listing too Darkie. If it were true, would it's knock on effect be why the Cropton Court Case was initiated I wonder?

OnTheDrink - I'm mid thirties and I remember the strength of beers and lagers increasing recently. My Dad says that any beer over 3.5% isn't real beer! It feels like the strength is ever increasing so that 5% is now the norm.

Quite possible as a result, who knows, apart from Humphrey?

As for alcohol levels increasing, in my experience it is decreasing.  Old Speckled Hen has a lower ABV, as does Bateman's XXXB (was 4.8%, but now 4.5%).

More information here: Bateman's XXB 4.5%

Ahh...well Alpine has definately gone from that particular Sam Smith's in Central London - there were 2 Taddy pumps. After drinking a Taddy I remember the Alpine has having more of a sharp finish in comparison. It will be sorely missed by a lot of people. The friendly barman said that it's 'all about pricing' and that they had 'run out of Alpine about 3 weeks ago'. I guess its an end of an era  :'(

Very good tribute, its gone from all but on of my locals now. Some customers are refusing to drink i or changing to a different drink. All in the name of protest.
