Proposed forum visit to York pubs
« on: Aug 8 - 2011 »
A forum trip to York is being planned, with the intention of visiting the nine Samuel Smith's pubs in the city and perhaps some around the outskirts.  A provisional date of Saturday 10th September 2011 has been agreed between Ian and myself.

I will be staying at a camp site about three miles south of York, in Bishopthorpe and is just around the corner from Samuel Smith's Ebor Inn.  The camp site website is: http://www.yorkmarine.co.uk/

If anybody would like to join us then you would be most welcome.  A meeting place and time will be agreed and set closer to the time.

Please let us know if you would like to come.

Can I just add, If you work for Sam's maybe best not to turn up. But come on and join us if you can.

And if you don't feel like making it public about turning up, you can PM DarkieBoy or myself.

I think I know the best place to meet up, but I'll run it passed DarkieBoy first.

Just to let people know that to visit all 9 pubs in York City Centre it will involve 5.01 miles of walking. But if you miss 2 of them out you can get it down to under 4 miles and if you miss 3 out you can get it to just over 3 miles. But don't forget if you do all 9 it will take around 5 plus hours, so we will not be running between pubs.

If you do plan to come and you don't know your way around, these no need to worry as this will be a lead pub crawl. And if you do want to miss out on one or two of the outlying one's , again that is no problem as I will make sure you get to the next one on the list and then the rest of us will meet up with you after visiting one of the outlying pubs.

We do plan to meet up at 11am at the first one and then set out at 11-30am to start our crawl.

DarkiBoy as asked me not to say which way round we are doing the crawl. So we will be doing a true "Kanter"*

Guests of members who are attending are more then welcome to join us.

* A kanter is a walk where the walkers only find out where there are going when they start walking.

So come on lets make it a good day out, with good company and beer,

ian

I am considering visiting Tadcaster on Sunday 11th September, the day after the York visit, if anyone is interested?

Ian, do you have a Tadcaster-York bus timetable (I'll be flabbergasted if you don't)?

The buses run so often you don't need a timetable.  You can catch the Coastliner or the York to Leeds express bus.

Been talking to a female member today and I asked her if she was coming to York. She said not if she was the only female to be there . At that my wife said see will go.

So if there is any other female members wanting come, you will not be on your own, so please join us.

I'll be the one on his best behaviour. With my wife there I'll have on choose.   :(

My other half will be coming and she's a female chap.  She'll also drink most of you under the table too!

Once Mrs ian gets on to Martini's she can also drink anybody under the table, that's why I keep her on lime and soda.  It's better on my pocket.
