Website flood protection
« on: Oct 24 - 2011 »
As some of you may be aware, we have once again been subjected to various (DDOS) flood attacks, hidden via open (anonymous) proxy servers, in countries like China, Russia and even the US - although the origin of such attacks could be from the UK.

To fight against such attacks, we have implemented some automated software, that should identify these attacks, and then block further attempts.

However - as we are still tweaking the software, some members (especially when making a number of clicks/links selections within a short time period) may get a 30 second temporary suspension, or an 'access denied' message. We are working to reduce such incidences were possible - and members can help us by reporting any such difficulties.

Thank you for your understanding.

If it's not broken - it's been fixed!

I've experienced the 30 second delay, and although a little inconvenient, it is worth enduring to protect this site from attack.  As an avid user of this site, I may be the most likely to notice the 30 second delay as I open several tabs of this website all-but at once and some tabs get the warning message.  By the time I've read the first tab, I can refresh the blocked tab and all is okay.  No problem.
