Empty houses
« on: Oct 7 - 2008 »
And what about all the empty houses in and around Tadcaster that HS owns.  Surely they should be reposessed by the government and put to use.  Is criminal when so many people cant afford to get on the bottom of the housing ladder.
And dont get me started about Nun Appleton hall!!!!!!!!!

Does Humphrey own alot of property and does he or his brother have children who could take over in the future. How many people work at the brewery and are they happy with their jobs and who looks after the horses in Tadcaster and how many do Samuel Smiths own.

So many questions - so little time  ;)

Well - to start the ball rolling. Yes, allegedly he/they do own a lot of property and land (possibly up to 40% of Tadcaster) and at least one village, and a quarry. Property is owned by the brewery, and other portfolios' by them individually.

Yes they have extended family - some info here

It's not exactly known (by me anyway) how many work at or for the brewery - as all info is purposely kept secret. I'm sure as with any employer, the majority of staff have been happy or at least satisfied with their working circumstances. However, if you read through this site, you will learn that things are going pear-shaped 'big style' - which will affect just about anyone. Let's face it, you don't want to go upsetting the Dray - and that's already happened. Loyalties to the brewery - are a thing of the past. I would imagine no ones job is guranteed as being safe. Although Smithy-boy seems to be on a completely different planet - and is either oblivious to it all - or couldn't care less!

I'm afraid I've no info on those lovely Dray Horses (Shires?).

Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

From what I have been told so far he doesant seem a very sociable person and does things without giving any reason why. One example their is a pub called the Mill Inn at Withington in the Cotswolds which was the first place to sell chicken in a basket and started back in the 1960s and was a pioneer of pub grub. Without any explanation they stopped selling it in August of this year and of coarse it is owned by Samuel Smiths. People came from all over and by stopping it they must have lost customers and as a result money, this makes no sense to me and I would love to ask whoever made this decision why they have done it.

who is grahamglen? if you want to visit the brewery, phone up. there are people on this site who are losing their homes & livliehoods right now. they don't want to visit the brewery! they want and need advice, proper advice. surely some of the longer serving managers could have helped someone like "cuckoo". what has happened to them, not matter what the circumstances, is
totally beyond belief & must be illegal. anybody heard of human rights? we can't send rapists, terrorists or murderers back to their country of origin, because they have "human rights", how can you then be allowed to force an english family with two small children onto the streets with no notice?

again good luck mate.

i would have put the f****r in hospital & claimed self defence, he's obviously not right upstairs. at least your family would have been looked after.

May I suggest that this is probably not the correct thread to post such a question. A different topic would be better served by posting on 'New Topic'.
