Taddy Lager??
« on: Oct 7 - 2008 »
hi everyone,

I've been a Samuel smiths customer for about two years now, but am new to this site.

I was in my local Sam Smiths pub recently and noticed on the price list a product called Taddy lager. This was the first time I've heard of this particular drink, but the pub in question doesn't serve it, although having contacted the brewery direct I was told it's only  available on draught. I've had the Taddy porter, but am led to believe thats a different drink altogether.

Has anyone actually tasted this lager, and if so, whats it like?

Thank you

this lager has been about for sometime, at one stage it was weaker than alpine but then the increased the strength to the same as alpine. it has a little sweeter taste than alpine.

hope this helps

Another bonkers marketing strategy, two Sams lagers, identical price and gravity and competing with each other. The Alpine is a bit sharper and most regulars cant take to the sweeter Taddy lager. FOB forces his pub managers to take Taddy even though it takes a lot of selling to the regulars. Having said that the brewery produces a wide range of beers and lagers from the best quality natural ingredients. It is a pity that the brewery is becoming notorious for its bullies instead of famous for its ales.

I could never understand why they did that with the Taddy, there must be a story behind why, cos it doesn't make any sense, anyone have any theories?
You are right about the taste, its definitely a bit sweeter, maybe its aimed at the ladies, but it was probably best left at 3.5% or whatever it was if thats the case.
Yes another wacky idea from Tadcaster Towers.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who don't understand, no explanation is possible.

I must admit - I miss the Tia Maria - as I used to treat myself to a few Black Russians at Christmas. Although the Cola let it down a bit as you can't beat the real thing.

So when it comes to treating myself to some proper alternatives - my money is spent elsewhere. Same goes for the whiskey, now my favorite Glenfiddich is no longer available. :(
