Love the George and Vulture near Bank in London. Excellent English food like toad in the hole and whitebait, and great Sam Smith's Beer in the excellent Sam Smith's Beer bottles. Top marks to the staff who are attentive and quick. The wood panneling and glazed windows give the place a really authentic traditional feel and I love the booths too.
Heading up to visit a friend in Yorkshire. He lives near York. Can anyone recommend me a couple of good Sam Smiths pubs up there which I can visit? Been to the Malt Shovel in Oswaldkirk and liked it a lot. Any other suggestions would be really welcome. Cheers.

Welcome and thanks for your first post.  It been a long time in coming  :D

So you've been to the Malt Shovel, the best of the best.

Why not try the The Greyhound in Saxton or The Gardeners in Bilton, Harrogate.  Or even the Wellington in York if your only after a drink. There is plenty of nice Sam Smiths pubs within a few miles of York.

Hello and welcome to the forum. There are a large number of SS pubs in the York area. There's 9 in teh centre of York and about 17 on the outskirts, so plenty to choose from. The Blacksmiths Arms at Farlington is a lovely old pub, or the Agar Arms at Worthill is a lovely setting. In York there's the Wellington and the Kings Arms that floods.

Indeed, welcome to the forum.  I'd say The Ebor, which is just to the south of York.  It's the only Samuel Smith's pub which has a landlord.  It had a godd atmosphere, friendly locals and efficient bar staff.

You could mosey on from the Ebor in Bishopthorpe to Appleton Roebuck where there are two Sam Smiths pubs, and then to The Crown at Bolton Percy or Buckles on the A64 or even to Askham Richard to the Rose and Crown. If you carry on from there you come to the The Tankard at Rufforth and then The Sun Inn in Long Marston and The Boot and Shoe at Tockwith!! Not that I have done this before!!!!

If your wanting to do a route as suggested by SaucyQueen, Ian might be your man for the bus routes and times.

Yes if anybody what's any information about buses to and from rural pubs, then just ask.  Most of Sams pubs have bus stops right outside.

It does amaze me how many SS pubs have bus stops right outside or very nearby. Has Humphrey manipulated the Council's to place them near his pubs.  :P

You can fall off the bus right into the pub.  Or should I say fall out of the pub onto the bus. :P

last time I went on a bus from York to Wetherby it broke down right outside the Tankard and I had to have a couple of pints until a replacement bus arrived. Isn't life terrible

Try the Royal Oak at Ulley close to Rotherham and Sheffield.  A wonderful atmosphere in a terrific setting.  Well worth a visit.

Golden Ball, Scarborough. Great views of the harbour, great OBB and at last, a great management couple.
