I have long supported Sam Smiths with their policy toward pub preservation and selling beer at a reasonable price. However, recent changes seem to have occurred which have affected our visits to the Wellington at Knaresborough.
The recent change to "fast food" seems to have discouraged good landlords from taking the place on and now we seem to be lumbered with a "relief manager". We have a regular meeting there with about 15 to 20 people who have enjoyed the home made steak pies in the past.
Over the last few visits, not only has there been no home made pie, but there has been no food at all. Today, I visited the pub again with the same story but to make things worse, I thought the former cosy little lounge smelt of old pi**!!!
Things are clearly going downhill and we are not going back there. We will try the Borough Bailiff but if the catering problems are similar there, I'm afraid Sam's will be getting the thumbs down!!
