Bullying at the Bispham
« on: Feb 3 - 2012 »
On Sunday afternoon we, and the rest of the pub, had the misfortune to witness a husband and wife being bullied and threatened by 3 of the landladys cronies (names available if required) on her instruction.  This is not the first time she has made threats.  Do Sam Smith's condone this sort of behaviour because she seems to be able to get away with it.  What is the policy here?  If it was a customer making threats to staff or management they would be barred, surely, so why can she and her mindless thugs get away with it?

Doesn't sound like a good pub to go in. Managers need to be careful picking sides between customers. I would write or ring the brewery about the matter if it can't be resolved by the managers. Obviously you also have the mobile no. for the area manager aka Humphrey Smith

Phoned humphrey: the bullying landlady and her mindless morons will be smug to know that she has humphrey's blessing.

He supports her - the fact that she said to the customer 'she would send the boys round to sort him out', is apparently ok with humphrey because he believes this man was barred so it was his fault for going in.  HE WASN'T AND NEVER HAS BEEN BARRED but that's what she has told humf (and even if he was surely it doens't warrant that level of venom).

The customer chose to stop going in there because he had been threatened with violence before simply because the landlady doesn't like him.
He went in on this particular occasion because the landlady was on holiday and he went in to see the reliefs who he has known for years.  The relief landlord was furious at this incident.  (In case your wondering, one of her morons phoned the landlady at home to tell her the 'barred' customer had come in and she phoned the pub to threaten him.  With lots of 'F' words included - delightful lady.)

Humf cut me off after dismissively saying this man "shouldn't have gone in.  So there we are."  Call disconnected.

What sort of man is this that supports violence and intimidation made by the people that represent him to people who pay money to line his pockets.  I shake my head in despair.

If you were "accidentally" cut-off, then phone him back and apologise for being cut -off!

One could just phone back, say F.... Off to you too and spend your money somewhere else. As is the case with the 'barred' person.

However, he has been told that so many times before he wouldn't give, as you say a F... :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I'm going to be controversial here, and absolutely not condoning the treatment this chap is said to have received, but did he not consider the possibility that his presence in the pub might not have gone down too well with the manageress, who'd already threatened him?  It's still appalling behaviour on her part but if he already knew what her reaction might be perhaps caution might have been advised.

I agree, but the managers should remain impartial to all customers whether new or old. As you say it is still appalling and should not happen at any pub. Caution must always lead the way.

It's not exactly what you'd expect from someone who's supposed to have some professionalism!  At least he could have said he'd have a word.

Didn't think that Humphrey had any people skills, so that might be a hard thing for him to do. Yet more unhappy customers and more lost trade for the brewery. Where will all this end

this is exactly what hes like when you ring and ask for help or to change what u dispense cos you have been told that it will sell by simply asking the people what they would buy so Ur doing your job in trying to make him more money and u simply get "NO i don't think so! and down goes the fone" very ignorant and arrogant man 98% of the time. But if people don't try to educate this clown there were will be no more SAM smiths very soon and that is fact hes gone through SO many staff over the years any good managers left to run his pub like they should be wont work for the man because of his reputation and the crummy wage that he pays for a stressful, long hours job. But i do think hes amusing at times :P :P :P
