Sam Smith's pub signs.
« on: Feb 5 - 2012 »
Just been playing about with my photos on Geograph, the host website for my Sam Smith's photos. I done a search for Sam Smiths pub signs and 92 popped up.  I did not start taking photos of the pub sign until I'd been visited them for a while.

Anybody can see the signs by clicking on the link below.  Just click on any photo for more details of the pub.

An interesting set of pub sign pictures. That is one good thing that Humphrey does look after most of his pub signs and I believe still has a sign painter employed by the brewery.

The signs are great, although the odd one or two is in need of repair.  They have a similar style to one-another as if the same person had painted them - and they are in keeping with "tradition", they are traditional pub signs.

As you say DB some are in need of a repair and paint job. Many are in a similar style and look good when freshly painted. They do have a traditional style and feel to them.

As my posting a number is not approved of, I will just state that the latest post adds nothing to the forum and seems to me to be just posting for the sake of it.
I read every unread post and seeing 10+ posts from the same member on a regular basis gets boring. (That does not include Ian as I very much enjoy the photographs).

I am not really a regular poster, as an ex-employee for me Sam Smiths is something i couldn't live with but strangely cant live without! I come on mainly to keep up to date with SS news and to view Ian's fantastic photo's.
I do think it is great that Ian, Darkie Boy, Old Brewery Drinker and other senior members make the effort to welcome new members and also reply to a lot of the posts. Lets face it if nobody replied, no matter how trivial, you may as well go out into the garden and shout what you had to say into the darkness!

First may a say a big thankyou for the feed back on my photos, at times I do wonder if they are doing any good.

Re the numbers of posts made by posters on here.  We all have our own style of posting and I do get embarrassed by the number of posts I've made and time spent on here. I think the trouble is only a very few members bother to post and too keep the forum moving some of us tend to compensate for it just to keep the forum moving.

Has a forum we should be thankful that members find time to post, and sometime's it's nice to know when other agree with what you post.

My 2 pence worth.  Dam that another one added to my number of posts    :)

1718! But that is only counting for a laugh. Keep up the good work Ian, I enjoy seeing what other Sams pubs look like and don't have time to find out for myself.

I know I am guilty of posting many posts on here, some bring information out to other members whilst others are just comments. As Ian says we all need to be grateful that members do post on here or it would be a very boring forum.

Your regular posts often help draw my attention to a thread I might not have noticed and even comments help keep the forum going.
