why do people use this site to bitch about each other i have been reading the reports from the griffin growler and he is right, there are pubs that do not have any music or tv and people do enjoy being able to hold a conversation, i dont blame sams for not being held to ransom by sky tv, and in case any one is interested over ten years ago they were demanding ?220 a month for sky in pubs so god knows what it is now. griffin growler is right these pubs are busy, and the managers are overwhelmed by the amount of customers and they do need more staff, but there is no chance of that with the current regime, these managers need to get in a union and get there employment rights sorted, i cant believe this is happening in this day and age.i bet humphrey and fob get there weekends of from what i have read on this site these managers are working all hours and cant even get a day off. as for the people who want sky tv and entertainment go down the road and pay upwards of ?2 a pint, dont you realise it is you the punter who is paying for this.

If you were to ask 50 people in apub why they were there, it's likely you would get 50 differing replies. Of course it's good to be able to hold conversations without having to shout. On the other hand it can be pleasant to listen to some music, be it live or recorded; sports events also play a role in bringing people together and giving friends and strangers alike a common theme for interaction. Not all pubs are the same, just as not all people like the same things. I would not for one moment try to tell the rest of the pub-going public how they should enjoy themselves, nor would I suggest that all pubs cater for only one type of customer; but then MY name is not Humphrey Smith.

As for your Holts pub being so busy on football nights that you can't get to the bar, I have to say Holts have got their marketing spot on! When did you last have to queue at a Sams pub?

Last friday night, Saturday Night and Tuesday night. :D

I agree with el nino the present regime is treating every pub as one where they all have there own individual characteristics ask the bluebell in Heversham how much there trade as droppped recently, Pie menu and no tv's in their hotel rooms. Nellies has been well doccumented recently as well to name but two. Untill each individual house is treated as just that there will be an unprecidented decline :(.
(personal note to admin: kan wee ave the spel checkker back pleese?  ;D )
