Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

This pub is on the river front and gets flooded from time to time. As you walk into the pub on the right hand side of the door is a board with the flood levels marked on it. In year 2000 it was 6ft deep in the bar.
It as no hand pulled beers and could not find a price list.
OBB ?1-61.

Yep Darkieboy, thats the pub on the left of picture. Nice little pub, and the cellar is outside and up some steps, presumably to keep it above the flood lines.

Not been myself...I'd get chased out of the county, being on the winning side (Lancashire).

I have seen people paddle up to the bar in canoes to get a pint when the river is in flood, but having said that, it could have just been a publicity stunt.

This is yet another "must visit" pub in York. The cellar is on the 1st floor to stop it flooding.

I have visited this pub several times and always seems busy, with friendly staff and pretty central York.

Been in here yesterday and was as busy as ever i have seen it. The manager was having their day off, so two young girls were running it.Not sure who has taken over now as this manager might be the third since the summer time. Will check back next time i am in York

Went here yesterday and it was open despite the flood that i had heard about. It apparently flooded on Monday, it was open but there was a lack of furniture and no fridges. The glass wash seems to have survived. The manager and staff seem to have done a good job of cleaning the place up. But the notice says it may well flood again this weekend. It got to a foot of water.

It was flooded at the end of January when i went on a previous visit. I am going to York tomorrow hopefully, so i shall check it out.

The Kings Arms has been shut for the last 6 days and reopened today with a relief manager for the next week. Then another takes over for two weeks and then its any one's guess who will take over.
It flooded to a couple of inches of the bar this time so it was worse than the flood in the middle of January. The river was still as bad as seen in ian's picture today.
