« on: Mar 7 - 2008 »

Name: The King William - Location: Bristol

Address: 20 King Street, Bristol, Bristol, BS1 4EF [0117 926 8672]
Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

It would seem that 19-20 King Street - the site of the present King William Ale House - is leased from Bristol City Council and was formerly the site of the Jolly Cobblers (which explains the subsidiary company I guess). Unfortunately for Humphrey, the council seem unwilling to agree to his demand to sell him the property, in exchange for agreeing to sort out the two empty plots he owns in Bristol on Narrow Quay and the old Seamans Chapel. This information from a BCC document dated 07/07/2005.

Hi blue stanley.  Do go careful, always take the indoor one's first with nobody in them if possible.  Never ask permission.  On the way out then take the outside ones. If you take your photos standing on the street, NOBODY can stop you, including the police.

Best of luck, ian.

The outside ones are easy to take and nobody can stop you taking them. Inside ones are a little more difficult to do.  :P Best of luck, as i would like to see what this looks like. As it looks a lovely pub.

Just in case anybody tells you that it's against  the law to take photos in public places.

Called in to The King William on friday and was really impressed by the building. Downstairs is open plan, lots of beams a few timber framed booths and three open fireplaces. Upstairs is a bit run down and is used as a games room with three pool tables, table football and a dart board. It wasnt particually busy at lunch time which was just as well because there was only one member of staff on duty! Had a pint of OBB (?2.22) and despite me being a big critic of keg beer i really enjoyed it. No Alpine or 2.8% Mild but they did have Wheat Beer on at ?3.45!
Ive got some pictures of the outside that ill put on when ive got more time.

This is yet another nice pub, it's down a street full of pubs. Well maybe 6 or 7.  As you will see in my photos there is no drinking in the street, but why as some of the bars got benches outside?

I'm having to post my photos in 3 lots.  I hope Max dose not mind me posting so many photos?  Most of these photos will remain for members only.

Non-members can now see some photos of The King William on here..............................

http://samsmiths.info/forum/index.php?action=page;id=3

There you can see well over 500 photos of Sam Smith's pubs.  But if you join this forum you will be able to see well over 1000 photos of maybe 200 Sam pubs in detail.  If is free to join and very safe, the only way you can be "outed" is if you do it yourself.
