Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

York Arms, is not far from the minster and is full of wood panelling, it as 4 rooms with a central bar serving 3 of them.  This is a nice bar to pass a hour if your feet are aching from too much sight seeing.

OBB handpulled ?1-61  Alpine  ?1-79?

Must admit I've been in a few gay bars in country and aboard and it did not come across that way to me.  But it was 11-30am.

I like this pub. Small rooms with dark wood walls.

I understand that the manager here has left recently, can anyone confirm this? Believe that the manager at the Kings Arms is running it.
The opinions that I express are my own !! A Fan of SSOB products. Time for a pint of OBB

Lorne the manager did leave but it was only a stopping off pub till he got the one he wanted which is The Cross Keys at Stillingfleet, another Sams pub. As for the York Arms being gay, I did not know it was, my wife and I couldn't get a seat in city centre so we ended in the Arms, liked it and stayed. The gay part is what would be classed as the lounge area, we go in the bar.

Thank God Lorne went. He and his sidekick barmaid (whose name I forget, but she looks like Mrs Magoo) were two of the most rudest people I've had the misfortune to serve me a pint. Considering they were supposed to uphold the standards in the pub, there foul language was a disgrace. Good riddance! :)

A fairly new management couple in here, they seemed pleasant enough and the OBB was on form. Apparently its getting a refurb soon, even though Sams have run out of money. Its been waiting about 2 years though.

Barny and Sarah are the couple in charge, they seem to be on the ball, I think that they are doing a good job. I've been in today for my usual quota, it's my local even though it's nearly an hours bus ride away.

I nearly joined you today Whizz. I was in Taddy waiting for a bus to York or Leeds and the Leeds one came first.

I'm in most Saturdays Ian, room on the left just past the bar, I'll have a pint with you when next you are in, there I go again with my plural for pint, which of course we all know, is pint.

Well people ask why I don't have anybody in my photos on here?

Well here you are.............I have to say that I spent a hour talking with these 3 young ones, and I know Britain is in safe hands with people like these.

Left to Right.  Henry, Emily and Matthew.

Thank for your company.
