I have to say, the landlord here certainly knows how to look after his beer and keep the lines clean.

Always a cracking pint at the Trafalgar, despite being a "back street" type pub, shame the Brigadier and others in York cannot do the same and be so consistent as the Trafalgar.

It's about a 10 minutes ish walk from the Minster.
Head for the railway station, go past it and follow the road round. At the traffic lights (the punch bowl is opposite and the windmill is on your r/h side) go straight over and the pub is about 300 yards on the right.

This must be a new sign,as it looks different to the one I saw outside earlier in the year,or maybe last year. With the prices on it. Yes the beer here is always good, pity other SS pubs in York can't do the same.
The opinions that I express are my own !! A Fan of SSOB products. Time for a pint of OBB

Very sad to report.

Called in last night for a last one before my bus at about half 9.

The landlady served me a pint of lager that was a short measure. When I asked her to top it up, she refused point-blank, and rudely.

I asked for my money back, which she did, and I left, receiving a totally unnecessary amount of abuse as I did so.

There is a sign in all Sams pubs, which states they will happily top-up if the customer doesn't think it is a full pint.

Taddy towers will hear of this. I'll let you know.

Re the sign,  the sign dose not say that you can ask for a full pint.  It states that they will top up to 95%.  Re lager, in most Sam Smiths pubs, your lucky to get 85% to 90%.   Pleased I drink OBB.

Been a while since I was last in the Traf. It was my late father's local pub, which he'd been going regularly to since the 1960's and was well known.

Ken Moore passed away 1st Aug 2016

It's been mucked about with over the years by Sams, and the last thing they did was to build a wall between the bar and the front which has turned the bar into a dark-hole. I was told that the bar would be moved backward to remove the bottleneck that has been created. It wasn't long before this that the bar area was made bigger and things changed around a bit (which was a great improvement tbh.)

Always had decent beer in here (apart from the time of the last landlord, who couldn't keep a decent pint - many years previous). Particularly like the dark mild.

I've spent many, many happy evenings here and it will always hold fond memories. Must visit, as I've now moved to Goole and rarely get a chance to go for a pint now.
