An Ode to Humphrey Smith
« on: Jan 11 - 2017 »
Just found the below article that may be of interest.

http://www.thelondoneconomic.com/tle-pick/an-ode-to-humphrey-smith/04/01/

A valid point on the cost of a pint if football was on TV, I just googled that the typical cost of sky and BT sports is around 15K a year for pubs.

The article also links back to this forum.

After reading that I think Humphrey being like he is can be a good thing. When he does eventually  die his son may change things we do not want to see changed. For instance I am sick to death of hearing loud rubbish music in non Sam Smiths pubs as I like to sit down and read or just have a think and when I take the wife we can actually hear each other speak. Let us hope that Humphreys son only changes the things that need changing.

As I keep boring people with my problem with beer prices I just hope he doesn't but them up every year as the uniqueness of the Brewery will disappear.

The uniqueness of the brewery, by that do you mean, treating his staff like trash in the street and paying a minimum wage to keep your thirst happily quenched. I'd rather pay a little bit more and see staff members treated with the decency and dignity they deserve.

Well said. At least Humphrey does not rub it in peoples faces like a cheap sports ware shop director.

I agree he a bit of a git towards his staff but I like his pub's and having been drinking in them for over 30 year's and yes the stout and best bitter happily quenches my thirst.
If you don't like SS then why are you posting on a SS forum.
