I happen-chanced to be in the Tiger a little while ago with another member of this forum.  I must say that the management and staff were very friendly and accomodating.  Also, the beer quality was excellent.

The pub itself was clean and tidy and seemed to have a strong contingent of "locals" playing dominoes, chatting, socialising, etc.

I will definitely return.

It is a well run pub and shall return later in the year. But I have also heard bad reports, but have not taken much notice.

A few vacancies filled then  :_o, but still plenty of SS pubs to get new management in, plus some better relief managers that know what they are doing. Some pubs are now a joke  :WF :WF

Just returned from the Tiger. It was absolutely heaving. The regulars were holding a wake for a previous long-serving local publican who has recently died.

It is great that he should be remembered so well and so fondly, also as one who raised a lot of money for guide dogs. The new management couple, who I'm told transferred from Leeds, were coping very well, and fairly, considering that they had no warning!

Smith's dray caught in The Tiger car park yesterday. It was there for quite some time. Apparently the crew go off in a van to do some small deliveries in the area, and come back for the truck later.

I thought that Foden had ceased lorry production some time ago.

DB

<<Addition>>

The Foden marque was ceased by Paccar inc. in 2006 to concentrate on the DAF brand at their Leyland factory.

That fits with the 2005 number plate.

I think some of the drays are ex Royal Logistics Corps wagons - at least one of them has remnants of the former machine gun mount on the cab roof.

I wonder if the machine guns are re-installed for some deliveries?  :P

If they are I bet the drivers have to save 5% of the ammo.
