Come on people - lets have us some voting!  8)

Managers should by now know how their food turnover of late (October) compared to earlier in the year (April), before the 'ping pie' regime.

If you are a customer, and aren't too sure how your local is doing overall food-wise - then just ask one of the managers the question: How popular is the new menu, compared to the previous choice?

Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

thanks to whoevers's voted, but come on, let's have some feedback. we're all in the same boat, ok. it's sinking at the moment, but there could be a future. the food offering is crap, we all know that, takings have slumped, we all know that. hours are being cut accordingly. pretty soon a management couple in a catering house wil be just that. a couple just manageing, with maybe 15 - 20 hours help per week.

The two Sams pubs that I frequently use were both busy food houses before Humphrey took over. Sunday Lunch was hanging on and seemingly starting to improve until before Easter when he stopped them doing a Sunday roast and now it is gradually dying the same painful death that the rest of the week had already suffered through the companys useless introduction of the now infamous pie menu. I do know of at least two other Sams pubs that were once busy on food and which now are no longer doing any. Surely it would be better to give the food back to the managers to build up so that at least Sams is getting some not inconsiderable income from wet sales incurred through customers actually coming into the pub for food? There really is no logic behind this and it breaks my heart to see my treasured local being strangled by the very person who should care for it most.
I write this as I consider the venue for my family's annual Sunday lunch get together, which for years has been held at my Sams local. I feel like a traitor to my manager that I cant bring myself to go back there. We have to go elsewhere if we want a traditional Sunday Lunch or indeed anything that doesnt come out of a freezer or anything that doesnt come from a factory production line. A sad state of affairs indeed.

I was in a SS pub in York and was sitting in view of the "kitchen", where the "chef" was preparing meals  for 4 (obviously) foreign visitors
Chef could have done with extra arms to operate the bank of microwavw ovens, one for each dish, basically
The most comples meal was (guess what ????) beefburger and chips with salad
This required several skills:
1) read the timer setting required for the pre-cooked frozen burger
2) ditto for the already cooked frozen chips (at least there was no fryer smell)
3) defrost breadcake
4) pour samll portion of "relish" from 25 litre jar into little pot
and
5)(carefully, H+S issues here) slice and apparently real and unfrozen tomato
6) put this on plate, together with other 3 meals when suitably zapped

But they seemed to enjoy their "food"

Good job they were not sitting where I was
