Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

Nice pub on the harbour front.  Restaurant as reopened upstairs and maybe doing some proper meals.

Visited here the other day and it was a lovely pub by the harbour front. The beer was ok, not sure if they were serving food. Didn't smell any when i visited and upstairs appeared shut.

Heard a rumour that the manager of this pub has been sacked this week by Humphrey and no reason given. Anyone know the reason or what is happening at this pub?

Used to be very well-known for its food - until HS imposed the plastic ping food menu. He's probably blamed the manager for the severe downturn in takings.

Possibly so onthedrink, seen and heard it about many other Sam's pub over the last year.Your not taking 4% more in food takings and you beer sales are low. Strange afair when the tools managers need are taken away by Humphrey.

The manager and manageress responsible for the good food reputation are now(and have been for a couple of years or so) in the Plough, Whitby.  The Plough is a lovely pub now whereas the Jollies is a little rough in my opinion.

Though they had swapped over earlier in the year when i visited Whitby with a friend. Did not like the Jolly Sailor as much as previous visits. But going back soon, so will let people know what is happening there later.

Just heard on the news that Whitby is flooded.   Wonder if the Jolly Sailors and the Plough are OK.

If it is and you snap it how many times would that image be replicated elsewhere?
