Sky sports jukebox and pool room. Sounds like my idea of a pub from hell. My opinion of Humphrey has just gone up. My local has all the mentioned in the bar and it's full of young ones shouting over the jukebox and football commentary and arguing over the pool table. The lounge has three large televisions and an entire wall screen all with sport on and they expect families to dine there. Give me SS pubs any tine good beer and chat at a acceptable price. We maybe grumpy old ditherers but there is more of us than the young ones and we have the spare cash.
I have to say that it is highly dangerous to be riding a motor bike after a few pints of Sovereigne[I can never spell that word]so perhaps Humph is thinking about safety.
A group of us had to go the Eagle on Saturday afternoon. Had a fantastic time, great beer, very friendly bar staff/management. Made to feel welcome all the time we were there.
Can the staff move to York please?
Many of those that I knew had the white/black exteriors with gold lettering identity and could be spotted a mile off. The story I heard was that a certain person made it on to the Sunday Rich List and so decided to "anonymise" the pubs to make it more difficult to value the estate. Not sure whether true or made up but they all seemed to end up a non-descript brown and "Samuel Smiths" free. Pity really.
Still occasionally hear people at the bar say "ugh, didn't know it was Sam Smiths, lets go somewhere else.."
And conversely - oh great, it's a Sam's pub, i'll get em!
Please, not again especially you DB! Though I do agree regarding the price.
Petrol doesn't have a head on it, and it's not relevant to beer. And there will be a discrepancy even with petrol, electricity, gas, water or whatever is measured. Dispensed beers only has to be 95% liquid, end of, that's the industry guide line. There is no legal obligation to give anyone more.
