I have to report a total disaster in the Tiger. The manager claims that someone was in at the weekend complaining about dogs in the bar and stating that it was against brewery policy. He threatened to write to the brewery. (No-one else recalls this.)
As a result the manager has now banned dogs to protect his job. I asked him whether it was brewery policy. He said, no, it's against the law to have dogs in pubs. That is utter bullshit.
The Tiger has always been a dog pub. In fact it has paid for eight guide dogs. Their pictures are in the public bar.
As I understand it, the brewery policy is to leave it up to the managers whether they allow dogs in or not. Some SS pubs do. Some don't.
We suspect that it might be more to do with having a new carpet fitted in the public bar. The one there is very worn, as it would be. It is over 20 years old! If they do fit a new carpet it will be a cheap one, just as the 'new' second-hand fireplace was.
Here's some shots of the very friendly locals. The Tiger is still a true community pub despite the management's efforts to ruin it:
Lets see if anyone complains about me taking pictures in the pub.
How long before somone complains about drinking alcohol in pubs?
